The Bavarian police investigate a man who is said to have sexually abused a student in the toilet of an Augsburg elementary school. Against the 21-year-old arrest warrant was issued, said the prosecutor. He is accused of attempted rape and attempted severe sexual abuse.

After the recent investigation, the man had gone on Tuesday afternoon with a nine-year-old on the girl's toilet and had passed there on the child. When the girl screamed for help, a classmate brought in a teacher. He arrested the young man until the police arrived.

A spokeswoman for the Bavarian Ministry of Culture said that schools would use such incidents as an opportunity to re-examine their security concepts. Since 2002, there are regulations in Bavaria for the protection of children from hazards, even in the event of rampage.

"One hundred percent safety does not exist"

According to the guideline developed at the time, the doors should be closed after school starts, and video surveillance of the entrance is also possible. "Technical security devices are not a panacea", but it says in the paper. Bavarian schools must continuously review their concepts with the help of the police.

In Augsburg, the alleged perpetrator probably arrived at the end of the lesson. The education officer of the city, Hermann Köhler, told the "Augsburger Allgemeine": "I know that there is a yearning for it, but unfortunately there is no one hundred percent certainty."
