Technical problems have forced a Lufthansa aircraft on its way from Frankfurt am Main to the Brazilian metropolis of São Paulo to turn back. The crew of flight LH506 had decided to return due to technical irregularities - and as a precautionary explains a so-called air emergency, said a Lufthansa spokeswoman.
The machine had landed in the morning at 0.15 clock back in Frankfurt, it said. She will now be technically examined. The 284 passengers should be accommodated in hotels.
According to the information on the Lufthansa website, the aircraft is a Boeing 747-8i. On Tuesday morning, the trip to São Paulo should be restarted, as the spokeswoman said. Further details on the reason of the return did not name her. If an "emergency" is declared, aircraft may land preferentially.
Two Eurowings planes reversed
Only on Friday were two machines of the Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings reversed on flights to Spain for technical reasons. There was no danger to passengers and crews in either case, it said. Both aircraft were Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The first machine was launched in Cologne / Bonn and should fly with 152 passengers to Palma de Mallorca. At the height of Saarbrücken, the aircraft had turned around due to a warning message for the landing gear shaft and returned to Cologne.
The second Eurowings plane was launched in Hamburg to fly to Barcelona. The machine with 174 passengers on board turned around at Offenburg and landed in Hanover. At this machine was a defective instrument display, which had to be replaced, the reason for the alternative landing had been, it was said. According to the speaker, there was no connection between the two cases.
