On a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Perth, according to media reports, a two-month-old girl died. As the airline AirAsia announced, in the morning there was a medical emergency with a baby on board.

The crew had requested emergency assistance on arrival at Perth Airport, it said. AirAsia did not comment on the condition of the baby. "We are in our thoughts with the infant and the affected family," it said only.

A woman who claims to be aboard the machine wrote on Facebook how the baby in her arms "did his last breath". The child was thus the daughter of a young Saudi couple who wanted to start a new life in Australia.

At the beginning of the flight, the baby had been restless and cried constantly, the woman wrote on Facebook. She had offered help to the desperate parents, who would have put the child in her arms shortly before his death.

In the two and a half hours until landing, chaos prevailed in the machine. There have been attempts to revive the baby. The death of the child is not considered suspicious, the Australian media said, citing the police.
