The branches are currently towering over some streets of the old town like a pink roof: in Bonn, Japanese carnation cherries once again attracted numerous visitors over the weekend. Their flower is a popular photo motif in the social media - so much so that it sometimes comes to conflicts with other road users.

For motorists, there is already a warning sign: "Cherry Blossom Photographers - Please Drive". But the fact that dozens of amazed people stand on the street with the mobile phones on their backs is still hard to bear for some people.

Last year, strangers had even threatened to hit 7,000 copper nails in the trees, should the photo madness not be stopped. Copper nails are considered harmful to trees. The police then investigated the incident on suspicion of coercion.
