Director Takashi Yamazaki, a native of Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, who won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for Godzilla-1.0, was honored by Nagano Prefecture and Matsumoto City.

Director Yamazaki became the first Japanese film to win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for ``Godzilla-1.0,'' for which he was in charge of the screenplay and VFX.

For this achievement, he was awarded Nagano Prefecture's ``Governor's Special Commendation'' and Matsumoto City's ``Citizen Honor Award,'' and Director Yamazaki attended the presentation ceremony held in Matsumoto City on the 9th.

Just like at the Academy Awards ceremony, director Yamazaki, who wore Godzilla shoes designed to resemble Godzilla's hand clutching a shoe, received a certificate of commendation from Governor Moriichi Abe and Mayor Yoshinao Gagumo, and received a letter of commendation from Governor Moriichi Abe and Mayor Yoshinao Gagumo, who said, ``The beautiful nature of Nagano Prefecture.'' Growing up in this town has influenced my work, and I'm glad I was born in this town," he said in greeting.

In the discussion that followed, director Yamazaki said, ``The original Godzilla included metaphors for nuclear tests and war, but for a while Godzilla has become something of a hero, so we decided to go back to the basics.'' I made it with this in mind," he said.
