A new elementary school has been built in a new town built on the site of the Tokyo Olympics Olympic village in the Tokyo bay area, and an entrance ceremony was held on the 8th.

The entrance ceremony was held at the newly built Harumi Nishi Elementary School in Harumi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

On the 8th, the new first-year students entered the brand-new gymnasium under the watchful eye of their parents, and Principal Koji Saito said, ``You are all the first-year students to enter this school. Together, we will make this shiny school a fun place.'' Let's go,'' he said in a welcoming greeting.

This elementary school, which was newly opened in Tokyo's Chuo Ward for the first time in 44 years, will be attended by 821 children, mainly residents of the Harumi Flag apartment complex on the site of the Olympic Village, where more than 10,000 people are expected to live. A new first-year boy said, ``I'm looking forward to my new school.I want to make 1,000 friends.''

The children's parents expressed their hopes, saying, ``I'm glad that I was able to send my children to a school with clean facilities.I want my children to do their best as first-year students at the new school.''

Principal Saito said, ``I want the children to learn in this place where Olympic and Paralympic athletes spent their time, and to grow into people who can go out into the world.''
