Broadway is a major thoroughfare through downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Its lower end is famous as the music metropolis's nightlife center; honky-tonk bars and live music clubs are concentrated here. A new attraction was added at the weekend: Chief's on Broadway opened, a six-story entertainment center designed by country singer Eric Church: live music hall, country pub, piano bar, quiet restaurant rooms.

The opening of this entertainment temple was apparently an event that even the currently most successful singer in the country scene did not want to miss: As the local newspaper "The Tennessean" and the industry magazine "Billboard" report, Morgan Wallen celebrated hard at his colleague's opening weekend - and was arrested by local police late Sunday evening.

According to the police report, the singer is said to have thrown a chair from the roof of the bar. Two police officers standing saw the chair crash to the ground, and the 30-year-old is now accused of grossly negligent behavior and disturbing the peace.

Court date between stadium shows

Wallen's attorney, Worrick Robinson, confirmed that the singer was arrested at 10:53 p.m. He was cooperative and was released at 3:30 a.m. on bail of $15,250. A court date has already been set for May 3rd. Morgan Wallen is certainly in town on this day: He's playing three concerts at Nashville's Nissan Stadium from May 2nd to 4th.

Morgan Wallen was briefly arrested on Lower Broadway in 2020 for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. Back then, he was kicked out of Kid Rock's Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N' Roll Steakhouse for kicking glass objects around. In 2021, Wallen came under fire for being filmed by neighbors using the N-word while drunk. In a statement, Wallen said: “I am embarrassed and sorry. (...) There can be no excuse for this kind of language.«

The racist remark only temporarily damaged his career. In 2023, the single “Last Night” and the album “One Thing at a Time” were both at number one on the annual charts on “Billboard”. Morgan Wallen plans to open his own establishment on Nashville's Lower Broadway later this year. “This Bar,” the name taken from a Wallen song, will also have six floors. There will be space for three live stages and six bars - and a rooftop bar is planned at the top.
