In July, Alec Baldwin is scheduled to stand trial for the fatal shooting of a camerawoman on the set of the western "Rust." But the public prosecutor's tactics in the proceedings are already becoming public. Prosecutor Kari Morrissey has outlined in 32 pages how she will try to prove the actor is partly responsible.

Accordingly, Baldwin - who denies any guilt - showed questionable behavior on set. "Mr. Baldwin demonstrated during the shooting the pattern of a man who has absolutely no control over his emotions and is unconcerned about the impact of his behavior on other people," Morrissey wrote in the report. According to witnesses, this behavior also had consequences for safety standards during filming.

According to the report, which was reported by the British "Guardian" among others, the Hollywood star's cooperation with the investigative authorities also left a lot to be desired. “Every time he opens his mouth, a different version comes out. And these statements contradict his previous statements,” writes Morrissey.

In the incident in October 2021 at the Bonanza Creek Ranch (state of New Mexico), camerawoman Halyna Hutchins was fatally injured by a gunshot during a rehearsal. Director Joel Souza was hit in the shoulder by the same bullet when the shot went off from a prop gun.

Weapons master faces a year and a half in prison

Baldwin is charged with involuntary manslaughter. He denies pulling the trigger on the gun. However, an independent report came to the conclusion that this cannot be the case. The fatal shot could only have been fired by pulling the trigger. Baldwin's trial is scheduled for July 10.

At the beginning of March, the gun master was found guilty of negligent homicide on the set. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed now faces a prison sentence of up to 18 months. The public prosecutor's office described the armorer during the trial as "unprofessional and sloppy." She often skipped security measures completely or took them in a rush. She repeatedly left firearms and ammunition lying around in the open at the filming location.
