Festival-goers at the seventh edition of CANNESERIES were able to preview “Terminal”, a sitcom created by Jamel Debbouze for Canal+, support of the festival. The comedian thus reconnects with the genre which revealed him to the general public 25 years ago in "H" and which has since been abandoned by French audiovisual production.

Kyle Maclachlan, Jamel Debbouze, Ramzy Bedia, Camille Chamoux... A first procession of stars walked the pink carpet at CANNESERIES on Friday, kicking off six days of free screenings and meetings on the Croisette dedicated to lovers of the small screen. For its seventh edition, "CANNESERIES continues to establish itself as an essential cultural moment", declared its president Fleur Pellerin, accompanied by the mayor of Cannes David Lisnard, during the opening ceremony hosted by Bertrand Usclat.

CANNESERIES: we finally know the members of the jury

“It’s very well written.”

During this evening, spectators discovered, in preview, the new series by Jamel Debbouze, a humorous sitcom. The “Terminal” series, co-written by the comedian, tells the story of a broken team at the helm of a low-cost airline. At its head, Ramzy Bedia, plays the role of the most incompetent pilot.

“They still have the energy and the desire that they had before,” reported a viewer after the preview broadcast of the beginning of the series. “It’s very well written, they’re good jokes, we’re going back to basics,” added another. The series seems to have conquered the Croisette. The episodes are short, the actors are crazy and the decor is gigantic to recreate the airport. Directing the series was quite a challenge for Mohamed Hamidi: "From the moment we do comedy on an airline, there obviously had to be nickel-plated feet, otherwise it's not funny." Finally, we can say that CANNESERIES has successfully taken off with joy.
