“After a long tennis match that has lasted more than twenty years, we are finally putting down the rackets,” says the joint statement from Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher. The two confirmed their separation on Instagram after 20 years of relationship and 13 years of marriage.

»We filed for divorce together in 2023. We have always valued our privacy and have therefore made this change quietly. We forever share our devotion and love for our children," the comedian and actress wrote on their Instagram Stories. Her fans also asked her to continue to respect her family's privacy.

The actor couple met in Sydney in 2001, and the Brit and the Australian got engaged in 2004. Fisher and Baron Cohen have three children together: two daughters, aged fifteen and thirteen, and an eight-year-old son.

Baron Cohen denies allegations from Rebel Wilson

News of the couple's split comes amid controversy surrounding Borat actor Baron Cohen. In her forthcoming memoir, actress Rebel Wilson accuses a previously unnamed actor of "asshole behavior" on set. On Monday she made it public on Instagram that this was Sacha Baron Cohen.

She writes: »I will not allow myself to be bullied or silenced by high-priced lawyers or PR crisis managers. The asshole I write about in a chapter of my book is Sacha Baron Cohen.”

Wilson also claims that Baron Cohen is trying to prevent the publication of her book. In a statement obtained by the Guardian, Baron Cohen's lawyers deny the allegations: "We recognize that it is important to be able to express oneself publicly. But these demonstrably false accusations can be refuted with extensive evidence, including period documents, film footage and eyewitness accounts from those who were present before, during or after the production of The Spy and His Brother."

Wilson and Baron Cohen appeared together in front of the camera as a married couple for the film, which was released in 2016.
