"This work adds some lively elements to the visual expression, which makes it easier to attract young people." Recently, in the office of the School of Art and Design of Wuhan University of Technology, Taiwanese young teacher Tong Yanting was discussing with students to improve the Hubei cultural tourism image logo design plan .

Tong Yanting’s ancestral home is Taipei. In 2011, she went to Nagoya University in Japan to pursue a joint PhD program. Two years later, he joined the School of Art and Design of Wuhan University of Technology and became a teacher.

In January this year, Hubei launched a global solicitation for cultural tourism logo design. "I want to combine my professional expertise to contribute to the development of Hubei's cultural tourism and show the new image of Zhiyin Hubei to the world." Tong Yanting led the students and devoted themselves to creation.

How does the image logo highlight the regional characteristics of Hubei? In Tong Yanting’s view, the Yellow Crane Tower, the Yangtze River Bridge, the Guqin Platform, the legend of meeting a close friend in the mountains and flowing water, the Chu culture with a profound history, and the rich and colorful intangible cultural heritage... these are all worthy of in-depth exploration and display to the outside world.

Tong Yanting led students to conduct field trips to Hubei Provincial Museum and other places, and selected 20 works from 40 creative plans. After many discussions and improvements, 12 sets of design works were finally completed.

"Intangible cultural heritage is like a bridge, abstracting these elements into the design." In her view, excavating Hubei's treasure trove of intangible cultural heritage resources and making good use of them will help better present Hubei's new image to the outside world. .

Tong Yanting has been committed to deepening cultural exchanges between young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait through the use of intangible cultural heritage and cultural creativity. She has planned and organized Hubei·Wuhan Taiwan Week Hubei intangible cultural heritage viewing and experience activities, the National Taiwan Federation Youth Summer Camp and Winter Camp, and the "Chinese Award" Cross-Strait Intangible Cultural and Creative Design Competition and other cross-strait youth exchange activities.

"Intangible cultural heritage has shortened the distance between young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and allowed them to resonate emotionally." Tong Yanting said that she has led Taiwanese youth to visit and experience intangible cultural heritage art such as Laohekou woodblock New Year paintings and Yingshan entangled flowers. Many Taiwanese youth lamented that there are similar things in Taiwan. Craftsmanship.

"Intangible cultural heritage is the root of cross-Strait cultural exchanges." Currently, Tong Yanting is preparing for cross-Strait youth intangible cultural and creative training camps. In her opinion, Taiwan has rich cultural and creative design experience, while the mainland has rich intangible cultural resources, digital technology accumulation and market demand. The differences and complementarities between the two parties have become the basis for exchanges and the driving force for further development.

Tong Yanting said that through previous activities such as cultural and creative design competitions, many outstanding works from young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have been collected. How to subsequently implement and transform the results into products that meet market demand is still the direction of our next efforts.

She hopes that in the future, more models can be explored and more platforms can be created to strengthen cultural exchanges between young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and promote "two-way" cooperation in the cultural and creative industries across the Taiwan Strait. (over)
