Health The Prosecutor's Office of the National Court investigates the possible health responsibility for the consumption of Nolotil
The Minister of Health,
Mónica García
, has not gone into assessing the decision of the Prosecutor's Office of the National Court to investigate possible adverse effects of
Nolotil
, but she has recalled that "like all medications it has side effects." Specifically regarding this drug, she has highlighted that "in some cases, supervision and follow-up are needed."
"Whenever any medication is evaluated and introduced, the risks-benefits are managed. (...) Regarding Nolotil,
there
are some cases that, basically, what they need is supervision and follow-up," he noted in an interview with
Catalunya Ràdio
collected by Europa Press.
Thus, the minister recalled that the
Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS)
, which is the body in charge of the regulation, evaluation, authorization and surveillance of medicines and health products in Spain, carries out a prior assessment of each drug. before its authorization "always putting benefits above risks."
Therefore, "I don't know if it is a prosecutorial issue, but it is a
pharmacovigilance
issue , which is what we do here, what we have been doing all our lives here in Spain and in Europe and everywhere, to monitor what those side effects are," he concluded.
This Thursday it was known that the Prosecutor's Office of the National Court has agreed to investigate a possible health liability for the
possible adverse
health effects derived from the consumption of the medication
Nolotil
. It does so after receiving the
complaint presented
by the Patient Ombudsman and once more complaints have been registered in both the State Attorney General's Office and the Madrid Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
