Flights The eternal fight for hand luggage in 'low cost' flights or how to pay an extra 200 euros for a small suitcase
Album Swings and benches with dream views: these are the most spectacular viewpoints in Spain
That reality surpasses fiction is a more than demonstrable fact. Tell it to
Owen and Dolly Pope,
an American couple who managed to live inside the Californian Disneyland amusement park
for 16 years
. We imagine that it is a real dream for a part of the population, who thinks of the complex as the most wonderful place in the world.
Well, this couple did it. As? We tell you the story of him, although to do so
we have to go back to 1955 when
Walt Disney
himself
opened the doors of the first theme park of his factory. The place chosen was the
Californian town of Anaheim
to make it a reality. Not only did he want it to be a fantasy for the little ones, with all the characters from the house roaming the premises, but he also wanted children to be able to interact with the animals outdoors.
The house in which the Popes lived for 16 years.
To do this, the businessman hired the couple formed by Owen and Dolly Pope, experts in the equestrian world, who were in charge of managing the so-called
Pony Farm
, where these horses were the kings and other attractions. It also soon became one of the most interesting offers at the complex, since the kids wanted to
see the ponies first-hand
, according to the Allociné portal.
In order to work with the horses,
the Popes
settled in a trailer in the park, located on the outskirts of the
Frontierland
area . Or the Wild West, far from the public eye. They were not only responsible for raising and training horses, but also
made carriages
. And everything, from his peculiar
caravan
, very close to where the animals lived.

We are talking about 1955 when they settled, but over time they began to reside in a residence in better conditions. Measuring 120 meters and painted
white and green
, it was located behind the farm, far from
prying eyes
, since, although those responsible for the park knew its residence, no one from the public ever found out.
They lived there until 1971, when they decided to move from
California to Florida
to work at the new Disneyland park, where they also took care of the animal ranch. There they no longer lived in the theme
complex facilities
, but rather lived outside. They continued working for four more years, until 1975, when they retired.
The plaque that remembers the couple.
Of course, its initial house is still standing today, converted into another attraction in the home where
Mickey Mouse,
Donald Duck, Cinderella and so many other icons of the Disney universe live. It is located a few steps from the current
Star Wars area.
A plaque commemorates the work they did.
