Actor Alain Delon, 88, was placed under “enhanced guardianship”. A legal measure intended to protect an adult and their assets when they find themselves in difficulty supporting themselves.

Alain Delon had been placed under judicial protection since January with the appointment of a legal representative “for his medical monitoring”. The status of the sacred monster of cinema, who suffers from lymphoma, was modified Thursday by the protection litigation judge of the Montargis court to evolve into “reinforced guardianship”. Aged 88, the actor now "no longer has total freedom in the management of his property and the decisions he could make", indicated a source close to the matter.

A protection measure less strict than guardianship

Curatorship is a legal measure intended to protect an adult and their assets when they find themselves having difficulty supporting themselves. There are several degrees of curatorship (simple, reinforced, modified). In the case of Alain Delon, it is a reinforced curatorship which provides in particular that the curator manages the bank account of the protected person and pays his expenses, specifies the service-public.fr site.

Enhanced curatorship is an intermediate step between curatorship and guardianship (two legal protection regimes). It is aimed at people in vulnerable situations who need to be supported in daily life. Alain Delon will be assisted by a curator who already played the role of legal representative, indicated Anouchka Delon's lawyer, Frank Berton.

A fratricidal war

Alain Delon's three children, Anthony, 59, Anouchka, 33, and Alain-Fabien, 29, have been tearing each other apart for several months over the actor's state of health. Latest episode to date: Anouchka Delon sued her two brothers for invasion of privacy after the broadcast of the recording of a conversation between her and her father. The trial is scheduled to take place in April 2025 in Paris.
