The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has received information about health hazards from companies that purchased Kobayashi Pharmaceutical's red yeast rice because of an issue in which people who ingested health foods containing ingredients in Kobayashi Pharmaceutical's red yeast rice developed kidney disease. Although we requested a self-inspection of the products, we learned through interviews with relevant parties that no such products had been reported by the reporting deadline.
Regarding Kobayashi Pharmaceutical, the city of Osaka has issued a recall order for three products, including ``Beni-koji Coleste Help,'' which contains the ingredient ``Beni-koji.'' It was made public and a voluntary inspection was requested.
The self-inspection will be conducted on products that consume more than the same amount of red yeast rice per day as the three products targeted by the order, and those that have been reported by a doctor to have caused at least one health hazard in the past three years. Regarding the question of whether or not there are products available, it was found that 52 companies to which Kobayashi Pharmaceutical directly wholesaled red yeast rice raw materials did not have such products.
Regarding the 173 companies that received raw materials from these 52 companies, the deadline for self-inspection reports was the 5th, but interviews with related parties revealed that they had not reported the relevant products by the deadline. .
