There are no holidays or rest days, bloodshed almost all the time, and sacrifices made every day... In peacetime, the public security team is the team that sacrifices the most and contributes the most. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, more than 17,000 police officers have died in the line of duty in public security agencies across the country, and more than 3,700 of them have been named martyrs. In 2023 alone, 253 civilian police officers and 164 auxiliary police officers died in the line of duty.
The vast number of public security heroes have forged their loyal police souls with their blood and courage, adhered to and fulfilled their solemn oath without regret, and composed a series of hymns to heroes.
Resist the darkness with flesh and blood
The elegiac couplet hangs high, and the sorrow and joy return low. On April 21, 2023, thousands of people waited in the rain at the funeral home in Meishan City, Sichuan Province to bid farewell to the hero Jiang Jiuhua on his last journey.
On the morning of April 17, 2023, Jiang Jiuhua, a policeman from Qingzhu Police Station of Qingshen County Public Security Bureau, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, was suddenly attacked by a criminal suspect with a knife while performing a search and investigation mission with his comrades. In order to protect the safety of his comrades and the masses, he acted bravely and fearlessly. He stepped forward and fought to the death with the criminal suspect. Even though he was seriously injured, he still controlled the criminal suspect until he was subdued. However, Jiang Jiuhua was seriously injured and died heroically after rescue efforts failed. His life was fixed in that spring.

Every heroic figure is made of flesh and blood. When the critical moment of life and death came, they made a difficult and great choice.
Zeng Yuheng, a policeman from the Panyu District Branch of the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, who took the initiative to step into waist-deep water to clear the danger, and was unfortunately swept into the river by the rapid water flow and died heroically; he ignored the danger to his personal safety when performing patrol duties and avoided dealing with road dangers. Li Zhong, a policeman from the Highway 1st Brigade of the Traffic Police Detachment of the Changzhou City Public Security Bureau of Jiangsu Province, who was unfortunately hit and injured by a truck and died; has been fighting on the front line of fighting criminal crimes for a long time, and has participated in solving more than 300 major criminal cases and arrested various crimes. Guo Weimin, the former political commissar of the Criminal Investigation Detachment of Fuzhou City Public Security Bureau in Fujian Province, who has more than 1,000 suspects... They used their lives to fulfill the solemn oath of the people's police to serve the people.
History is frozen, and heroes sleep forever. From the white mountains and black waters to the southwest border, from the desert oasis to the coast of the Bohai Sea, from the battlefield with visible gunpowder smoke to the hidden front, the public security officers went against the grain and faced death. They fought against evil with their blood and blocked the darkness with their lives, just to protect the peace and happiness of the people.
Use your life to fulfill your oath
"When a police officer becomes a hero, he just does something he believes in his heart that he should do out of his loyal instinct." Chen Yonghu, former captain of the Ma'an Squadron of the Traffic Police Brigade of the Keqiao District Branch of the Shaoxing Municipal Public Security Bureau, Zhejiang Province, wrote in his diary This sentence is touching.
In the early morning of May 16, 2023, while performing the task of rectifying traffic violations, Chen Yonghu was hit by a truck and pushed on the hood for more than 700 meters. The vehicle later collided and rolled over. Chen Yonghu was seriously injured and unfortunately died after rescue efforts failed. He was only 48 years old.

There are not a few public security heroes who have thousands of loyal bones and thousands of blood. They wrote the magnificent poem "People's Police for the People" with their lives:
Wei Heyou, the former director of the Dayuan Police Station of the Donghu Branch of the Nanchang Public Security Bureau in Jiangxi Province, has participated in the investigation of more than 850 various cases since he joined the public security work in 1994, and has recovered more than 100 million yuan in total stolen goods and losses. In 2023, he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while working. After resuscitation failed, he unfortunately died.
Liu Xin, a community police officer from the Taonan Police Station of the Qitaihe Municipal Public Security Bureau in Heilongjiang Province, was diagnosed with aplastic anemia in 2011, but remained optimistic and enterprising. During the 12 years since she suffered from the disease, she devoted herself to work and took multiple measures to build a safe network, achieving "zero security incidents in the jurisdiction, zero damage to residents' property, zero complaints from petitions, and zero loss of control of key personnel", effectively safeguarding the safety of one party. . In 2023, she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. After resuscitation failed, she unfortunately passed away at the age of 36...
Looking back at history, it is these dark blue figures who charged forward, fearless of wind and rain, and persisted silently, who created a higher level of peaceful China——
Today, China's current homicide detection rate remains at 99.9%. The public's sense of security has increased from 87.55% in 2012 to 98.2% in 2023, and China has become recognized as "one of the safest countries in the world."
Remembering is for better inheritance
Although the hero is gone, he has never been forgotten. Inheritance is the best memorial.
"After my father passed away, I learned about a different version of him from his former colleagues... Now I have also put on a navy blue uniform and become a glorious traffic auxiliary police officer. I will embark on the journey my father once walked. We should follow his example and interpret the true meaning of this uniform with practical actions." On April 1, the Traffic Police Detachment of Changzhou Public Security Bureau of Jiangsu Province organized the "Qingming Festival Memorial to the Heroes" event to deeply commemorate the national police officers who died in the line of duty. Li Zhong, the system's second-level hero model, and Li Zhong's daughter Li Wanqi spoke as representatives of the newly recruited traffic police auxiliary police officers.

On the same day, a special party joining ceremony was held at the police station in the Fangmaoshan Service Area of the Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway where Li Zhong worked before his death. In front of the golden plaque of "Li Zhong Squadron", the police officers solemnly swore to join the Communist Party of China. The young police officers said: "The best way to remember a hero is to continue walking in his footsteps. Handle everything in a down-to-earth manner at your post."
The hero has passed away, but his spirit lives on. In June 2023, the duty post at the intersection of Kehai Highway and Xinwei Road in Keqiao District was named the "Pioneer Demonstration Post" by the Keqiao District Branch of the Shaoxing Municipal Public Security Bureau. This was the intersection where Chen Yonghu was on duty for the longest time during his lifetime, and witnessed He is a police officer who is loyal, responsible and dedicated to the people.
The names engraved on the stone tablets are like stars in the sky and torches in the dark night, lighting up the night sky and illuminating the path forward for the two million police officers.
The spirit of the hero will not be lost, and the majesty will last forever.
