China News Service, Xiongan, April 3, headline: News on the 7th anniversary of the establishment of Xiongan New Area: "New Xiongan people" who "relocated their families"

China News Service reporter Chen Lin

Guangzhou to Xiongan is about 2,000 kilometers. It took Yang Guoliang four years from coming to Xiongan alone to moving with his family.

Dr. Yang Guoliang, who has been engaged in the data communications industry for more than 20 years, is the deputy director of the Xiongan New Generation Network Laboratory. He is currently leading a team to help Xiongan build the world's first all-IPv6 future city.

In the spring of 2017, official media released the blockbuster news of the establishment of Xiongan New Area. In the spring of 2018, Yang Guoliang came to Xiongan for the first time as a relevant expert to give lectures. He still remembers that transportation in the new area was not convenient at that time, and there were no high-rise buildings around it. "After the meeting, there is no return train, so we can only find a car to take us to Shijiazhuang first."

In his office on the 6th floor of Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park in Xiongan New District, Yang Guoliang can clearly see through the window that the startup area "is changing every day." The trees in the park downstairs have turned green, buildings are rising one after another, and the highway in the distance is Vehicles speeding on the road...

In May 2020, Yang Guoliang made up his mind to become the "Xiong Generation" after traveling to Guangzhou and Xiongan many times. He remembered that Xiongan was surrounded by construction sites at that time, and his leather shoes had to be polished every day. The current environment is very good. He always goes cycling with his children on weekends.

Xiongan New Area is another new area of national significance after the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and Shanghai Pudong New Area. Talking about the reason for coming here, Yang Guoliang, who has worked experience in Shenzhen, said that there are not many opportunities like this in a person's life, and he hopes to seize the opportunity.

In 2021, Yang Guoliang's wife also came here because her unit established a new office in Xiongan. When she and her husband returned to their hometown, they often talked about the changes in Xiongan, which had an impact on their children who were studying in junior high schools in Guangzhou.

In 2022, with his children willing to study in Xiongan, Yang Guoliang officially moved his family. He admitted that behind this, the whole family valued Xiongan’s huge potential in the future. He believes that this will be one of the cities with the highest concentration of scientific research talents in China.

Wang Yufan, a staff member of the Xiongan New Area Smart City Innovation Federation, also believes in this. This is one of the reasons why he resigned from a central enterprise three years ago and came here. Another reason is that his girlfriend already worked in Xiongan.

In the past three years, he has seen construction sites lined with tower cranes, thousands of lights at night, new units being relocated, and many outstanding scientific research talent teams gathering here from all over the country and even overseas. This "rapid change" gave Wang Yufan "slowly a sense of belonging."

Shang Xinying, a staff member of the Xiongan Innovation Research Institute who was born in the 1990s, gave up her career establishment in Tianjin three years ago and came to Xiongan. She said that among her colleagues there were highly educated talents from the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as well-known scientific research teams from first-tier cities in China. They all worked together to create a new scientific research platform with longing for the future.

Buying a house in 2023 is what she sees as "taking root in Xiongan". This year I am planning to take my child over to study. Shang Xinying said that her story is also the story of many "New Xiong'an people". "Every day, stories like this are repeated again and again."

Wu Jihao, 26, is a staff member of China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. After graduating from university, he followed the company team to work here on construction. The moment when the lights were turned on for the first time after the house was built and renovated was one of the most beautiful memories of Xiongan in his eyes.

Wu Jihao, who has worked here for three years, hopes to settle down and start a family in Xiongan. He likes the environment of 300 meters to the park, 1 kilometer to the forest belt, 3 kilometers to the forest, and amusement parks everywhere. He also fell in love with the "fireworks" of this new city - "When he first came here, construction was done far away from the county seat. You can’t even order takeout, and now the surrounding area is full of restaurants with different regional characteristics.” (End)
