In this case, people who ingested health foods containing the ingredients of Kobayashi Pharmaceutical's ``Red Yeast'' developed kidney disease, and ``Pouberle'' is a type of mold produced from red koji raw materials produced from April to October last year. An unexpected ingredient that appears to be "acid" has been confirmed.



The company uses two different strains of Monascus mold depending on the type of product, and when we traced back the manufacturing process, we found that 33 lots of red yeast rice ingredients manufactured last year and used for this health food etc. were all strains of Monascus mold. It turned out that they were made from the same stock.



Only 10 of these lots contained an ingredient believed to be ``pouberuric acid,'' and it is expected that efforts will be made to determine the cause, including the possibility that it may have been mixed in during the manufacturing process.
