The United States of America does not seem determined to take any step to put an end to the daily crimes committed by Israel against civilians or relief workers in the Gaza Strip, while Arab positions have turned into a weakness for the Strip, experts say.

Despite the Israeli army's deliberate targeting of the World Central Kitchen relief team, National Security Council communications official John Kirby confirmed that Washington has no plans to investigate this incident.

Kirby did not stop there, but said that the United States does not have any evidence that Israel violated international law throughout this war.

These statements represent evidence that the administration of President Joe Biden is not ready to take any step that would stop Israeli crimes, says former American diplomat Charles Dunn, who said that Washington is doing nothing but expressing its regret.

Incoherent position

During his participation in the program “Gaza... What Next?”, Dan said that the Biden administration’s statements “do not proceed at a single pace and are not coherent and therefore do not send a coherent message.”

But what is unfortunate, Dan says, is that John Kirby continues to emphasize Israel’s right to defend itself when this is no longer the case, indicating that many in the Democratic Party have begun to realize this fact, which has created a crisis for Biden, as he puts it.

As for political science professor at An-Najah University, Hassan Ayoub, he believes that the Biden administration “gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu an unprecedented green light, and he only needs half of this light to commit all the crimes he can commit.”

The Biden administration has realized this, which prompted the US President to change his tone during the recent period, but Kirby and other administration officials are rushing to refute Biden’s statements, says Ayoub.

Therefore, the most that Washington can do - according to Ayoub - is to accept the results of an Israeli investigation that will conclude that the matter was the result of a mistake, because it knows that it has excess power that would make it kill without accountability.

hard situation

Regarding the reason for this American position, which is now threatening Washington’s reputation globally, Dan says that the Biden administration is in a difficult situation “because there are many political considerations that it must deal with while it is talking about the current terrible situation,” adding that “Biden is talking about the necessity of protecting aid workers.” While large arms shipments are being passed to Israel.”

From this standpoint, Dan believes that Washington is walking on two lines that do not meet, and he does not even know what America wants more than what is happening to take an effective position, especially regarding the humanitarian crisis that will worsen in the coming weeks, in his opinion.

Despite the unprecedented state of anger in America against Israel and against American military support for it, there is a state of balance between the two parties, especially in Congress, regarding continuing to support Tel Aviv - according to Dan - who pointed to Biden’s confirmation that he supports continuing to support Israel.

Given that the United States has entered an election year, Dunn believes it is impossible for Biden to take an effective step against Israel "on the evidence that his political and military decisions do not support the ceasefire or the delivery of aid that he is talking about."

As for Ayoub, he goes further than Dan’s statement, saying that the American position “is worse than the Israeli one, because Israel’s behavior in Gaza and the West Bank went so far as to make Washington unable to act, so that countries such as Canada, Britain, and the Netherlands took more advanced positions than Washington.” .

Therefore, Washington, with this position on Israel, “did not leave any respect for the rules of the alliance because it is unable to subjugate one of its smallest allies (Israel), so what can it do with a large ally like Britain or Canada.”

Regarding the nature of the relationship between America and Israel, Dan says that “it is not possible to determine who controls whom,” but he is certain that Washington is “a prisoner of its long-term policies that are now appearing in Congress.”

Although the US administration can do a lot of political and diplomatic things, it is unlikely to do this in an election year, says Dan.

Create chaos

Regarding this Israeli behavior towards aid and relief teams, Ayoub says that there is a regional Israeli escalation that embarrasses the United States, stressing that Tel Aviv “is not concerned with delivering aid to the residents of Gaza, and has worked to prevent any organized distribution of it, creating a state of chaos and perhaps a civil war in the Strip.” ".

Ayoub explains this by Israel's desire to force the Palestinians to accept its conditions, including cutting off 30% of the Gaza Strip's area, maintaining a permanent military presence there, and creating an Arab peacekeeping force in Gaza.

However, Ayoub says that what is most strange during the current war is that the positions of the Arab countries “are the most weak, because they are not ready to acknowledge that the world is changing and that the United States is no longer the master of the world,” stressing that the Arab position “has become a major weakness in what is happening in Gaza".
