At least 15 people have died in a fire in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul. The office of Istanbul Governor Davut Gül said eight others were injured, seven of them seriously.
The fire broke out on the lower floors of a 16-story building that was used as a nightclub. According to initial findings, the fire broke out during repair work and has now been extinguished. The exact reason and the identity of the victims were initially unclear. The governor's office announced an investigation into the fire.
