Nadia Tereszkiewicz stars in the film "Rosalie" in which she plays the role of a young woman unlike any other in 19th century France. Rosalie's face and body are indeed covered with hair. A hairiness that she tries to hide until the day she marries Abel, played by Benoît Magimel.

Nadia Tereszkiewicz doesn't care what people say. At 27, the actress, crowned best female hopeful at the 2023 César Awards for her performance in

Les Amandiers

, embraces her daring artistic choices. For the film

Rosalie

, in theaters on April 10, the actress wears a beard. Her baby face and porcelain complexion are covered in blond hair. The image is striking, subversive. And this pronounced hairiness must have been even more surprising in the 19th century, the period at which the plot of the feature film directed by Stéphanie Di Giusto takes place.

A fight for self-acceptance

Nadia Tereszkiewicz gives her features to Rosalie, a bearded woman, in France in 1870. Aware that she will be rejected by society because of her difference, Rosalie shaves her body and face every day. Until the day she learns that Abel (played by Benoît Magimel) is going to marry her (editor's note: a forced marriage). Abel has never seen her... And Rosalie doesn't want to pretend anymore. Then begins a long struggle for self-acceptance. The young woman does everything to free herself from the gaze of others and take full responsibility for herself. She ends up claiming her difference, whatever the price to pay.

The feature film is loosely inspired by the story of Clémentine Delait, bar owner and first woman to become famous for the beard she wore, at the beginning of the 20th century. The film will be released in theaters on April 10. In the meantime, here is the trailer:
