Heavy rain and floods hit central France over the Easter weekend. A retirement home was evacuated, as France's Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said on Sunday morning in Pontoise. Around 1,500 people have no access to water. The floodwaters now appear to be receding.

According to the Vienne prefecture, a few dozen residential buildings were also evacuated. Heavy rain caused the Gartempe to overflow, as the local prefecture announced on X. Several roads are closed due to flooding. Water is distributed to people.

According to Interior Minister Darmanin, one person is also missing in the storm area. The missing person was kayaking and has not yet been found. According to the broadcaster "France Info", the man got into trouble on the Vienne, near the central French city of Limoges.

In the southeastern Rhône-Alpes, fallen branches and fallen trees cut off power to 6,000 households on Saturday morning, as French media reported, citing network operator Enedis.
