Ahead of the spring national traffic safety campaign, an event was held with the participation of entertainer Tsutomu Sekine and others, urging people to wear helmets when riding bicycles.

Approximately 3,500 people, including elementary school students involved in traffic safety activities, participated in the event held by the Metropolitan Police Department and other organizations at Ryogoku Kokugikan.

At the outset, Superintendent of Police Sadami Ogata said, ``There is no end to malicious accidents such as pedestrian accidents and drunk driving, and the number of bicycle accidents is also increasing. We will continue to take measures to make the city the safest city in the world.'' I said hello.

Afterwards, entertainer Tsutomu Sekine, who serves as the Metropolitan Police Department's traffic safety ambassador, and actor Terusei Murayama appeared and explained bicycle traffic rules and safety checks at crosswalks, along with quizzes and demonstrations.

As of the 29th, 34 people died in traffic accidents in Tokyo this year, 8 more than last year.

The spring national traffic safety campaign, which begins on April 6th, will encourage people to follow traffic rules, focusing on wearing helmets when riding bicycles or electric scooters, ensuring road environments are safe for children to pass, and giving priority to pedestrians. We are calling for compliance.
