Shining waves
Hundreds of glowing egg-shaped sculptures fill Hong Kong Harbor. They are part of an installation by the Japanese artist group “Teamlab”. The eggs are not stationary, but move in the wind, waves or people passing by and bumping into them. If they falter, they immediately straighten up again, make a sound and change color. The sculptures pass on the color impulse to the surrounding works of art, creating a wave of interacting elements. Surrounding trees are also connected to the installation, which will be on display until June.

Mirror of terror
The blue lights of the emergency vehicles are reflected in the windows of the Crocus City Hall near Moscow, and flames blaze in the building. Several heavily armed men stormed the venue before a concert on March 22nd, shooting and setting fires. At least 140 people were killed and hundreds more injured. Shortly after the crime, an offshoot of the terrorist militia “Islamic State” claimed responsibility for the crime and several suspects were arrested.

Elemental force Nazaré
There is probably no other place in Europe where the waves are as high as in Nazaré. The fishing village on the Portuguese Atlantic coast is considered a mecca for big wave surfers. The German Sebastian Steudtner set a world record here in October 2020: He rode a 26 meter high wave. During the week, strong winds triggered a natural spectacle: huge waves crashed on the rocks of Nazaré.

Look into the unknown
A group of migrants from Venezuela, including several children, hide in bushes on the edge of the Rio Grande in Mexico. They are looking for a loophole through which they can cross the closely monitored border with barbed wire to the US state of Texas. Several people have already died this year while trying to cross the river with its dangerous currents.

In Kiev, a miniature park employee is restoring the model of St. Andrew's Church. Despite the bombing, the local people continue to work on the “mini-Ukraine”. Similar to the Miniaturwunderland in Hamburg, symbols and sights of Ukraine are modeled there. In addition to St. Andrew's Church, whose foundation stone was laid in the 12th century, landscapes and castles can also be seen. Every Monday entry is free for families with children. Even now, in war.

Help from above
According to the United Nations, hundreds of thousands of people in the Gaza Strip are at acute risk of famine. Israel has restricted food deliveries to the already sealed-off coastal area since the Hamas terrorist attack and is continuing its military offensive. Several countries, including Germany, are trying to at least somewhat alleviate the suffering of the population by dropping aid supplies from the air. But the complex supply attempts bring new dangers: at least seven people are said to have drowned while trying to retrieve aid packages from the water, and others were injured by the drops.

Signs of upset
After a political crisis and unrest, which long-time President Macky Sall fueled with his attempt to delay the elections, voting took place in Senegal at the weekend. 7.3 million eligible voters were called to the polls - as here in the capital Dakar. According to preliminary results, they helped the opposition candidate Bassirou Diomaye Faye achieve a surprise success. The government candidate Amadou Ba, supported by Sall, also congratulated Faye on her victory before the official results were announced. The country is facing a political turning point. During the election campaign, Faye described herself as a “candidate for system change” and a representative of “left-wing pan-Africanism.”
