Leading specialist of the Meteonovosti news agency Tatyana Pozdnyakova emphasized that

weather forecasting is one of the areas of meteorology, whose specialists are involved in compiling weather forecasts for different periods.

“I think this is a very interesting specialty that makes me look at the sky every morning, which is what I do. This profession is for those who are curious, active, and who care about nature and the processes that take place on our Earth,” she added.

She admitted that she always warns family members when bad weather is expected, when good weather is expected, when it is possible to drive a car, and when not.

As stated by the head of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Shuvalov,

To get a good forecast, you need to get acquainted with the current state of affairs.

“Review all synoptic and forecast materials, and then build your own model based on all this. My family is still sleeping, and I look at the current weather table in Moscow and the Moscow region, studying the latest data. There is nothing more beautiful than a well-made and accurate forecast, than sunrises, sunsets and clouds of the most varied and unexpected shapes. Art, intuition and scientific knowledge are intertwined into a ball that gives me real pleasure,” the specialist explained.

At the same time, he explained that his loved ones are sympathetic to the complexities and difficulties of the profession.

“They don't push me too hard. They don’t scold me too much when I sometimes miss. Especially if they ask me about the weather for a fairly long period of time,” he explained.

Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand clarified that

The weather forecaster's work begins with the continuation of yesterday.

“Monitoring of the state of the atmosphere occurs constantly. Diagnostic data is received every few hours. Forecasts for individual regions are calculated every three, six and twelve hours. Therefore, work has been going on since the very morning, discussing the results of calculations, methodological issues, and seminars,” the expert noted.

Regarding questions about the weather, Vilfand said that especially at the beginning of his work there were such episodes.

“Sometimes a friend calls me and asks for the weather forecast for the weekend. “You must have been listening to the radio,” I tell him. And he answers me: “No, this is for everyone. But for your own? As if you can get a weather forecast separately for friends and family. If a person finds out on the street, he immediately starts asking in detail what the weather is like,” he concluded.

Deputy head of the situation center of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Anatoly Tsygankov, in a conversation with RT, spoke about weather anomalies in some regions of Russia.
