Leading specialist of the Meteonovosti news agency Tatyana Pozdnyakova explained that the entire observation system has switched to new standards.

“And the new temperature standards - at least in most of Russia - have become higher,” the expert said.

The head of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Shuvalov, added that the last seven months are the warmest in the entire history of observations.

“Yes, of course, the excess there over previous records is not very significant - within tenths of a degree. But this is how we will climb up, tenths of a degree at a time. Another point is that global climate change will lead to more intense forms of heat,” he added.

Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand noted that the characteristics of global warming are determined over thirty years.

“For example, if we average the temperature in Moscow for the period from 1961 to 1990 and for the period from 1991 to 2020, that is, over three thirty years, the average monthly temperature in January increased by 3.2 °C. Do you understand? For the life of one person! The world has never seen such a rate of warming,” he concluded.

Earlier, weather forecaster at the Meteo forecasting center Alexander Ilyin predicted a warm weekend in Moscow.
