Yan Keqin is a member of the Chinese Artists Association, a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, a "cultural master" and a "four batch" talent in the national publicity and cultural system. He has held personal exhibitions in the National Art Museum of China, Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Painting Academy, Paris, France, and London, England, and published many albums and monographs.

At the opening ceremony, Yan Keqin donated an ink painting and seven works to Tianyige Museum. The inscription in the donated work "Unchangeable by wind and frost, the years will last forever" expresses his best wishes for Tianyige to endure hardships and endure forever.

Chinese art has had the tradition of "paying equal attention to both writing and ink" since ancient times, and even "writing first and then ink".

It is understood that for decades, Yan Keqin has always persisted in reading and painting. He has been writing with the fragrance of books and ink, and has formed his own meaning of pen and ink through constant exploration. In his view, brushwork and freehand brushwork are the essence of Chinese painting. Traditional Chinese literati freehand paintings must be developed on the basis of traditional brush and ink paintings.

"Freehand brushwork" is a traditional subject of Chinese painting. It is a distinctive feature that distinguishes Chinese painting art from Western painting art. It is also Yan Keqin's long-standing pursuit and practice of painting. Therefore, this exhibition is called "I Write My Mind", which can also be interpreted as "I Write My Heart". It is Yan Keqin's in-depth exploration of the freehand brushwork of literati. (over)
