The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office has decided not to prosecute two employees of an export sales company who were arrested for submitting false documents when exporting apples from Aomori Prefecture to Thailand.

Two employees of Sun Fresh Japan, a fruit export sales company in Ota Ward, Tokyo, were accused of submitting false documents claiming that apples from Aomori Prefecture were packaged for export when they were exported to Thailand the year before. The company was arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department in January and February this year on suspicion of violating the Plant Protection Act, and the company as a corporation was also referred to the prosecutor's office on the same charges.

The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office decided not to indict the two people and the company by the 29th.

The reason for not indicting the case was not disclosed.

In response to this, the president of the company held a press conference in Tokyo, during which they stated that although they believed the products were for export, they were actually for domestic use, and that the documents had also been requested through another company. He added that the documents were created and not forged, and that ``there was no wrongdoing, and it is regrettable that the employee was detained for such a long period of time.''

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Department said, ``We believe that we conducted an appropriate investigation after receiving a complaint from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.''
