Saitama Prefecture has ordered three businesses to repay a total of over 960 million yen for free PCR testing for the new coronavirus, alleging that they received subsidies through fraudulent means such as false reporting.

Saitama Prefecture held a press conference on the 29th and announced that three businesses had fraudulently received subsidies for free PCR tests conducted from December 2021 to March 2020. .



Among these, the prefecture canceled the grant of Meditranse in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, and issued it as a subsidy due to irregularities such as people with the same name being tested multiple times on the same day.8 They are seeking a refund of over 60 million yen.



According to the prefecture, when combined with two other businesses, the amount of fraudulent subsidy claims totaled more than 960 million yen, and the prefecture has decided to issue subsidies to these three businesses. It has been canceled and an order has been issued for restitution.

Takashi Yamaguchi, head of the Saitama Prefecture Infectious Disease Control Division, said, ``It's very unfortunate that illegal means were used.We will take strict action against the operator.''



In response to an interview with NHK, Meditransa said, ``The company we do business with was conducting business using our name without permission, and we were unable to prepare documents such as subsidy applications and performance reports.
