Recently, reporters came to Maluan Bay and were amazed by the scene in front of them: warm sunshine shining on the pedestrian greenway, egrets flying in the mangroves, Xiamen bougainvillea as bright as the clouds, poinciana, flame tree, Hainan huanghuali Various flowers and trees are woven along the coastline... It is a poetic picture of the seaside facing the sea with spring flowers blooming.

The third phase of the Maluan Bay Ecological Restoration Project is undertaken by China Communications Construction Company Fourth Navigation Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. (referred to as CCCC Fourth Navigation Bureau), a state-owned enterprise in Xiamen. Huang Yulang, the on-site person in charge of the project who is inspecting the site, said that the Maluan Bay ecological restoration project started in May 2020 and is the leading project for the construction of the "Water Science and Technology Ecological City" in Xiamen Maluan Bay New City and the basis for the development and construction of the new city. The ecological project is also an important ecological project for Xiamen's urban construction and development. After more than 1,000 days of careful construction, it was fully completed in March this year and delivered a brilliant result.

Mr. Li, a citizen who was strolling and relaxing on the road, told reporters that before, this place used to be a messy and desolate tidal flat. Now, it has become a beautiful garden that Xiamen citizens love. The hard work of the builders has made our living environment more and more beautiful and livable!

Before 2016, a large amount of water in Maluan Bay was occupied and transformed into shrimp ponds and fish ponds, and gradually developed into the waters in the bay. The water area continued to shrink, biodiversity declined rapidly, and a series of ecological and environmental problems such as water pollution seriously restricted surrounding areas. Regional sustainable development also affects the survival and habitat of seabirds such as egrets.

In order to improve the ecological environment, provide citizens with blue sky and clear water, and give egrets a livable home, Xiamen launched a series of ecological restoration projects in the Maluan Bay area in 2016. China Communications Construction Company No. 4 Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., which has a close relationship with Xiamen, fulfills its responsibilities as a central enterprise. Deeply involved in project construction, contributing CCCC’s wisdom and strength to Xiamen’s green development.

Deng Jiachun, secretary of the project party branch of CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., said that during the construction period, the project team always adhered to ecological priority and greatly reduced shore construction from November to March of the following year to provide a good environment for the survival and reproduction of migratory birds and effectively protect the original habitat in the area. There is an ecological environment.

In order to ensure the effectiveness of ecological restoration management, the project team planted a variety of aquatic plants such as Arundo japonica, iris, and yellow irises with strong water purification capabilities in the bay. At the same time, they established a water ecological water purification module planting area and built wetland water ecological infrastructure to make the ecological restoration more effective. The ecological environment is more diverse and the landscape levels are richer, further reducing ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus and organic pollutants. At the same time, about 15 acres of mangroves with a water area of are planted to provide a habitat for birds to survive.

The construction project is located on the edge of the bay, where Shenqing Creek and Yaoshan Creek flow into the bay and the sea. The structure of multiple drainage outlets makes it easy for waterlogging, water and soil pollution, etc. to occur during the regional flood season. Deng Jiachun said that the project team took early action before starting construction to plan roads and site drainage systems. When the flood season came, they dredged existing rivers in the area, cleaned up river slopes, and widened Shenqingxi and Yaoshan. The flood channel section of the stream ensures that the project can survive the flood season smoothly.

Zou Haifeng, project safety manager of CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., told reporters that in order to ensure that there are no dead ends or gaps in green and environmentally friendly construction, the project has built a network of "environmental protection has a network, there is a grid within the grid, the grid determines the people, and the people are responsible" It adopts a grid management model and introduces new equipment such as dust detectors and dust monitoring systems to monitor construction dust 24 hours a day and without blind spots.

The project team also uses information technology to continuously improve the level of safety management. By installing a fully intelligent video surveillance system, it can realize the visualization of construction operations and the traceability of safety management and control, and improve the efficiency of discovering hidden dangers and handling problems.

Plant poinciana trees to attract phoenixes. The good ecological environment of Maluan Bay is attracting a large number of ecologically and environmentally friendly, high-tech, and high-value-added industrial projects to come here, exuding a charming charm to the world. (over)
