The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has received health consultations from doctors to 52 companies to which Kobayashi Pharmaceutical wholesales red yeast rice ingredients due to the issue of people developing kidney disease after consuming health foods containing Kobayashi Pharmaceutical's red yeast rice ingredients. However, by the inspection deadline of the 29th, it was discovered that there were no such products.
Regarding Kobayashi Pharmaceutical, the city of Osaka has issued a recall order for three products, including ``Beni-koji Coleste Help,'' which contains the ingredient ``Beni-koji''. 52 companies in Japan were asked to conduct self-inspections.
The self-inspection will be conducted on products that consume more than the same amount of red yeast rice per day as those contained in the three products targeted by the order, and those that have been diagnosed with health problems by a doctor at least once in the past three years. As a result of the inspection, it was found that none of the 52 companies had any products that had been reported by the deadline of the 29th.
In addition, we are continuing to conduct self-inspections of the 173 companies that obtain red yeast rice raw materials from the 52 companies that Kobayashi Pharmaceutical wholesales and other companies, and will request reports of inspection results by April 5th.
