  According to reports, these eight ancient city ruins are Nanyang ruins, Guxian ruins, Chengzi ruins, Xiongzhou ancient city ruins, Anzhou ancient city ruins, Xin'an ancient city ruins, Minzhou city ruins and Guzhou city ruins. The ancient city ruins date from the Warring States period. It lasted until the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

  In May 2017, the Xiongan New Area Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeological Work Station was unveiled. So far, staff have carried out 10 special archaeological projects and 23 basic construction archaeological projects in Xiongan New Area, with an exploration area of ​​6.82 million square meters, an excavation area of ​​more than 20,000 square meters, more than 4,000 cultural relics unearthed, and 263 immovable cultural relics confirmed. These include 8 ancient city ruins.

  The archeology of Xiongan New Area began at the Nanyang ruins. Lei Jianhong, head of the Xiongan New Area Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeological Work Station, said that through excavation, it has been basically confirmed that the main cultural connotation of the Nanyang site is the Yan culture from the Eastern Zhou Dynasty to the Han Dynasty. Two Warring States city ruins have been discovered at the site, which are the earliest city ruins discovered in Xiongan so far.
