China News Service, Beijing, March 28: A reporter learned from the Beijing Municipal Water Affairs Bureau today that Beijing has arranged a total of 157 water post-disaster reconstruction projects with a total investment of 142.8 billion yuan.

From the end of July to the beginning of August 2023, some areas in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region encountered extremely heavy rainfall that was rare in history, and the "23·7" basin-wide flood occurred in the Haihe River.

Liu Bin, director of the Beijing Municipal Water Affairs Bureau, said that after the flood, the Beijing Water Affairs Department followed the goal principle of "basic recovery in one year, comprehensive improvement in three years, and long-term high-quality development", compiled a special plan for post-disaster recovery and reconstruction of water affairs, and established a post-disaster reconstruction project library. .

Among them, 54 projects have been basically restored within one year, with a total investment of 9.6 billion yuan. Currently, 8 projects have been completed, and the remaining projects have also started construction and will be completed before this year's flood season. In three years, 96 projects have been comprehensively upgraded, with a total investment of 75.2 billion yuan, and 26 projects have been started.

In the "23·7" basin-wide catastrophic flood, Fangshan District and Mentougou District of Beijing were the most severely affected. Liu Bin said that the water damage repair of rural water supply and sewage treatment facilities in these two districts has been basically completed and has been restored to pre-disaster levels and improved, and residents' daily water supply and drainage have been guaranteed.

Liu Bin said that Beijing is also working overtime to repair water damage to water conservancy project facilities and hydrological monitoring stations to meet deadlines and progress. At present, the water damage restoration projects of the Yongding River and hydrological monitoring facilities are more than halfway progressed and will be completed before the flood season. They will play their normal role in flood prevention, disaster reduction and hydrological monitoring during this year's flood season.

This year, Beijing will continue to improve the standardization and refinement of water supply and drainage and other public water services. Liu Bin said that in the first quarter, the city's key water supply projects are expected to complete investment of 430 million yuan, and new projects will also start construction in the second quarter. Among them, Mencheng Water Plant and Changping Xincheng Surface Water Plant are the two "South Water" water plants. After they are completed and put into operation, Beijing will have an additional water supply capacity of 250,000 cubic meters per day, and the city's total water supply capacity will reach 9.8 million cubic meters per day. Among them, the processing capacity of "South Water" has been increased to 5 million cubic meters per day, accounting for half of the city's total water supply capacity. (over)
