On board the ill-fated freighter in Baltimore - a team of salvage specialists has begun examining the stricken ship and the collapsed bridge. The container ship is currently stable and the tachograph is currently being evaluated.

Shortly before the accident, the crew of the "Dali" reported that there were technical problems and that the container ship was unable to maneuver.

Without power or propulsion, the ship then rammed a support pillar of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which then collapsed. Of the six construction workers who were missing and declared dead and who were working on the road at the time, two have now been recovered.

Roland L. Butler Jr., Maryland Police Chief:

“Divers discovered a red pickup truck submerged in the area of the center bridge pier at a depth of approximately 25 feet. The divers recovered two victims of this tragedy who were trapped in the vehicle. The victims were Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, 35 years old, of Baltimore, and Dorlian Castillo Cabrera, 26 years old, of Dundalk.”

Police said it was too dangerous for divers to continue diving among the rubble of concrete and twisted steel. Instead, the debris should first be removed before divers can continue searching for the bodies of the missing people.
