New details have emerged during the investigation into a knife attack that left three dead. The day before the violence, the police were at the family's house to break up a dispute. The police and public prosecutor's office announced this on Thursday - without giving any further details.

In the crime on Tuesday evening, a 19-year-old is said to have killed his parents and brother with a stabbing weapon. The parents, aged 58 and 61, died in the apartment building in the Waldshut district in Baden-Württemberg, the 34-year-old brother died in hospital as a result of his injuries. The sister suffered serious stab and cut injuries in the attack. According to investigators, these are not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect is now in custody. He had no criminal record and testified when the arrest warrant was issued, investigators said. For reasons of privacy, the public prosecutor's office did not provide any more detailed information about the course of the crime or the background to it. The suspect's motives are also still unclear. There are no indications that drugs were involved.

Meanwhile, the community in Baden-Württemberg offered citizens help to deal with the shock after the bloody attack. “We are ready for support,” said Mayor Jürgen Wiener when asked. There is great concern in the community on the border with Switzerland with around 4,000 people.
