It is one of the great mysteries of humanity. A nightmare that stalks us, every night, to break our sleep and torpedo us with everything that worries us.

"Why, many times, do we wake up at three or four in the morning and all the worries and negative thoughts come to mind?" asks

Ana Ibáñez , director of the

Mindstudio

centers

.

This is his response: "This occurs because

our brain has completed approximately two entire sleep cycles and has identified that this time is enough

not to enter

survival mode

."

That is, "our brain interprets that

we have already slept enough so that nothing bad happens to us

." And, here comes the most 'bad' part of the matter, "it considers that the time has come to

pay attention to all our pending issues again

and, therefore, it 'bombards' us with a lot of worrying thoughts."

And what can we do when we find ourselves in that situation? "First of all, I would recommend that

we get up

if, for example, we need to go to the bathroom. The next step would be

to be aware

of what is happening to us: our brain has wanted to wake us up naturally. And, immediately afterwards, do some

deep abdominal breaths

to

achieve that calm

that our mind needs to fall asleep again," concludes Ibáñez.
