Since the release of

Titanic

in 1997, the wooden plank that

Rose

(

) and

Jack

(

Leonardo DiCaprio)

cling to in the film's final scene has generated controversy as viewers questioned whether there was room for both of them. He gave up saving himself and ended up freezing to death.

Now, at an auction of iconic film objects, organized by Heritage Auctions in Dallas (Texas), the iconic board has sold for

$718,750 (about 663,000 euros)

, surpassing other objects for sale such as

initial bid for the piece of wood that served as a raft was $40,000 (about 36,000 euros)

.

Other objects sold in this auction were the whip that actor Harrison Ford used in one of the films in which he played Indiana Jones for $525,000 (about 484,000 euros) or the

Holy Grail cup

used by the same character in '

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

' for $87,500 (about 80,700 euros).

There were more than 1,600 objects from film history

owned by the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain
