No matter what director and screenwriter Bora Dağtekin does, it is a success: the “Fack ju Göhte” trilogy was seen by over 21 million people in the cinema, the early evening series “Turkish for Beginners” is still loved today, the cinema hit “Das Perfect Secret” grossed over 40 million euros.

Dağtekin's new film "Chantal in Fairytale Land" is now in cinemas, a spin-off from the Fack-ju-Göhte film series. One of the main roles stars 22-year-old Mido Kotaini, who only fled to Germany eight years ago.

In the “Moreno+1” podcast, host Juan Moreno talks to Bora Dağtekin and his star Mido Kotaini. It is the first interview ever for Kotaini. For the first time, he speaks in detail about his escape from the Syrian civil war, his odyssey through various refugee homes and growing up in Germany without his parents, who had to stay behind in Damascus. To this day, Mido Kotaini does not have a secure residence status in Germany - and that as a leading actor in one of the most expensive German films of the year.
