In the past, she was primarily celebrated as a star in romantic comedies like “Notting Hill,” but today Julia Roberts chooses riskier material. It wasn't until the end of 2023 that she appeared in the culturally critical disaster thriller "Leave The World Behind" about a global blackout on Netflix.

It has now been announced that Roberts, 56, is planning a film with Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. As the US industry magazine “Hollywood Reporter” reports, among others, the two are to work together on the thriller film “After the Hunt” for the production company Amazon MGM Studios.

Dark past

Guadagnino, 52, is considered one of the most radical and influential directors in international arthouse cinema. Most recently he attracted attention with the cannibalism romance film “Bones and All” with Timothée Chalamet in the lead role. His new film “Challengers” will be released in cinemas in April.

Guadagnino and Robert's joint thriller is based on a script by actress Nora Garrett. It is about a college professor who is confronted with her own dark past due to a campus scandal. It is not yet known when filming for “After the Hunt” will begin.
