Today much more is decided on

RTVE

than the signing of

David Broncano

. Today it is decided at

RTVE

who wins the battle that has been going on for months within the Public Corporation between

Elena Sánchez

, its acting president, the Management Committee and a good part of the

Board of Directors

. Starting at 9:30 in the morning, the Board of Directors is convened to decide whether to finally approve the signing of Broncano, but also if the public entity takes over the program

That's my jam

-now on Movistar Plus+-, from LACOproductora, the production company. by José Miguel Contreras integrated within Prisa Media, for a total cost of 4.5 million euros. And in the midst of all this, the future of

Elena Sánchez

.

Since

Elena Sánchez

, current acting president of RTVE, replaced

José Manuel López Tornero

at the head of the Public Corporation, within the public entity there has been a covert war behind closed doors that could not be contained after the intention of television public, with the support of Moncloa, to sign

David Broncano

and his

Resistencia

RTVE finalizes the signing of David Broncano and his Resistencia to compete against El Hormiguero

On March 11, after the call of an

Extraordinary Council

to precisely vote and approve the signing of Broncano, that war that until then was only talked about in television circles was evident when

Sánchez

, in charge of bringing the signing proposal to the councilors , decided to abstain and give the Public Corporation a few days to renegotiate a contract with which neither she nor a good part of the councilors seemed to agree, despite the fact that, according to RTVE sources, days before she had verbally given her approval.

That abstention, which momentarily paralyzed the signing of Broncano - a signing in which Moncloa has shown its efforts to try to put a dent in

El Hormiguero

and Pablo Motos - was labeled "betrayal" causing the

RTVE Management Committee

, with the exception of The director of the Presidency's Cabinet,

Verónica Ollé

, stood up to Elena Sánchez the next day at the meeting that the acting president herself had called to explain the reasons for her abstention.

The contract, which the director of General Content at RTVE,

José Pablo López,

had personally negotiated with El Terrat and Encofrados Encofrasa, producers of

La Resistencia

, included three seasons for a total cost of 42 million euros

-14 million per season-

, in addition to other clauses such as that in the event that the program, scheduled for prime time on La 1 from Monday to Thursday, did not meet the audience objectives, it could be relegated to another slot, but always for the same cost per program that if it were broadcast in

prime time

.

That decision by

Elena Sánchez

to paralyze the signing of

Broncano

until the contract was improved revealed a schism that has been a reality within RTVE for months:

the battle between the interim president and José Pablo López

. There are many differences between the two, not only with respect to the

La Resistencia

contract but also with respect to the public television model that each one wants. This has caused harsh confrontations and internal debates that have ended up leaving

Elena Sánchez

practically alone , who from the beginning had little support both in the Management Committee and within the Council.

The tension expected for today's Board of Directors is such that some voices claim that

Elena Sánchez

could be in her last hours at the head of the Public Corporation, a position for which she has been ratified for three more years. However,

RTVE

sources assure that Elena Sánchez has no intention of resigning and nor will her dismissal be decided, especially taking into account that six of the councilors - three from the PP, one from the PSOE and another from the PNV - They are salient. That is to say, her position ends on March 31 and other directors would have to be elected, something that at the moment seems unfeasible, so the directors will remain in office. With an outgoing Council, it is very complicated for the councilors to vote on the dismissal of

Elena Sánchez

, since it would mean having to vote for another candidate who would have to be ratified with a consensus of five votes in favor. Even so, RTVE sources assure that the situation is so tense that "anything is possible."

As for the main reason for today's Council, the signing of Broncano,

everything indicates that it will finally go ahead

, but with changes to the initial agreement. According to RTVE sources, an agreement has been reached with El Terrat to be signed for

one year plus another extendable year with certain audience conditions

. The amount - 14 million per season - seems to be maintained. If the signing of

David Broncano

is finally approved ,

Elena Sánchez

would receive an oxygen bomb, especially after her decision to stop the hiring of

Broncano

was not liked at all in Moncloa.

Furthermore, today's Board of Directors also has to decide whether RTVE takes over

That's my jam

, the program presented by Arturo Valls on

Movistar Plus+

, and which is also on the Board's agenda.

The cost is 4.5 million euros plus VAT and represents one more RTVE contract for

LACOproductora

, the production company founded six years ago by José Miguel Contreras, Content Director of Prisa Media, which has obtained at least 21 contracts with RTVE worth 33,574,520 million euros (27,747,536 euros plus VAT) since its creation.

During these years,

LACOproductora

has produced all types of formats for RTVE: from infotainment magazines (

Las cosas Claros

), to current affairs magazines (

Days of Summer

,

Better with you

), to fiction (

Riders

), through informative programs (

El condenser de Fluzo

) and entertainment (

Sánchez y Carbonell

and

Días de tele

), which have been broadcast on La 1, La 2 and RTVE Play.

The program The Clear Things, presented by

Jesús Cintora

, generated a crisis in RTVE since its premiere when it was denounced by the union body of the Intercentros Committee and different journalists from the network for failing to comply with article 7.5 of the Law on Radio and Television Ownership State that says: "The RTVE Corporation will not be able to assign to third parties the production and editing of the information programs and those expressly determined by the framework mandate." TVE's own Director of Magazines,

Isabel Cacho

, resigned from her responsibility after disagreeing with the decision adopted by the network's management.
