PFAS are organic fluorine compounds of which there are more than 10,000 types, three of which have been shown to be harmful and have been detected one after another in rivers and tap water across Japan.



At a meeting of experts held on the 26th, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced that it will conduct a fact-finding survey starting in the new fiscal year to understand in detail the extent to which PFAS are contained in foods distributed in Japan. did.



The survey targets four types of PFAS, including PFOS and PFOA, for which standard values ​​are set in the EU, four


agricultural products such as rice and cabbage,


beef, milk, and eggs. The plan is to collect about 30 items each of

five livestock products such as


sardines


and five seafood items such as sardines and sweetfish, and commission a private analysis agency to conduct an investigation.
