Amidst the increasing number of bears and other wild animals and damage to crops, a shooting practice facility was built in Gunma Prefecture to train hunters, and a completion ceremony was held on the 25th.

A prefectural rifle shooting range was built in Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture, and a completion ceremony was held on the 25th with more than 20 people in attendance, including prefectural employees and members of the local hunting club.

At the event, Eriko Suda, Director of the Prefectural Environment and Forestry Department, gave a speech, saying, ``Resolving conflicts with wild birds and animals is a major issue. We would like you to use our facility as a training ground for capturing large mammals.'' Did.

According to the prefecture, the amount of damage caused to the agriculture and forestry industry by wild animals in the prefecture amounts to approximately 500 million yen annually, while the number of people with hunting licenses has decreased to less than half of what it was at its peak about 40 years ago. This has become an issue.

The completed facility is a one-story reinforced concrete building with five shooting locations, and is scheduled to open on April 15th.

Riki Oya, vice president of the Prefectural Hunting Association, said, ``We've been looking forward to its completion. We want young hunters to take advantage of the facility and learn how to safely handle firearms.''
