Takara Shuzo, a major sake brewery headquartered in Kyoto, has announced that it will voluntarily recall approximately 100,000 bottles of sake that it sold for a limited time. The product uses red yeast rice raw material, which Kobayashi Pharmaceutical announced a voluntary recall on the 22nd.

According to Takara Shuzo, the sake they are voluntarily recalling is the Shochiku Bai Shirakabegura Mio PREMIUM ROSE, which has been on sale for a limited time since January this year.



This sake uses red yeast rice produced by Kobayashi Pharmaceutical as a coloring agent.



Kobayashi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. announced on the 22nd that it was voluntarily suspending three health foods after people who ingested health foods made from red yeast rice developed kidney disease, etc., stating that ``the health foods may have been the cause.'' We are announcing a recall.



Takara Shuzo has decided to voluntarily recall the approximately 100,000 bottles it has sold so far, and is asking those who have purchased it not to drink it.



There are no confirmed health hazards associated with this sake.
