The Prince and Princess of Wales were "extremely touched" by the messages of support they received following the news of Kate's cancer, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said in a statement, as the British Crown fans continue to flock to Windsor to support the royal family.

"Both the Prince and Princess have been extremely touched by the messages of sympathy (sent by) people from the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world," after Kate's video in which she announced she had “cancer,” the spokesperson said Saturday evening. “They are extremely touched by the warmth and support of the public,” he added. Kate and William "are grateful for (the public's) understanding of their request for privacy at this time," the spokesperson concluded.

In front of the castle gates, a group stops for a few minutes, almost in a moment of contemplation. Sarah traveled from Kent, a county in England, as a show of support for the Princess of Wales. “We feel like we're making a pilgrimage today when we come here. We've thought a lot about her. She's in our hearts and in our prayers in these difficult times,” confides the Englishwoman on Europe 1.

Media pressure

These crenellated stone towers, Grace knows them well. She has lived in Windsor for 25 years. There is a certain worry in her voice when she talks about Kate Middleton's cancer. "It's a shock to everyone, but I'm so happy with the way she acted. It's brilliant. It put all the rumors to rest, but now we know what she's fighting. I'm sorry for her,” she explains. In her video published Friday evening, Kate claims to be well, without specifying the nature of her cancer.

Since then, many Britons, like John, have condemned the media pressure which, according to them, forced the princess to speak out. "There is a huge weight that weighs on the family. When everything you do is observed, when everyone talks about you... We can choose when we want to speak in public. They don't have the choice,” he says sadly. John is particularly angry with the tabloids who, he says, smear the royal family as much as they claim to support them.
