Recently, in Maijiuling Park in Liuzhou City, Guangxi, a cute "little rabbit" poked its head out from behind a tree; an "owl" with bright eyes was dutifully "on duty" on the tree, and the "butterfly" " "Snail" is hidden in the corner next to the trail.

Take a closer look at these cute "little animals", which are made from discarded plants. The body of the "Owl" is a piece of pine; its wings are cattail leaves; its feet are unblooming pine cones; its eyes are a combination of buttons and brushes. The overall shape is exquisite and lifelike. They are all designed by garden worker Li Wei. "Skillful".

"The dead branches and dead wood that are usually cleaned up in the park will be piled up in the warehouse, which feels a bit pity. I thought I might as well use them and let them return to the park in the form of art." Li Wei said that these abandoned plant handicrafts hidden in the park , brought surprises to many people.

47-year-old Li Wei loves handcrafting. His early experience working in an advertising company makes his creative inspiration "at his fingertips." But he said: "Unlike hand-cut advertising boards, when the production materials become plants, it is not the same difficulty."

Li Wei said that when making these "small animals", the characteristics of different waste plants need to be considered. "First of all, we must choose discarded plants that are dry and have little water content. Secondly, we must match soft and hard materials according to different parts to achieve the best results of stability and beauty." He said.

After years of accumulation, the careful Li Wei "knows the characteristics of every plant in the park very well". With a hot-melt glue gun, a saw and other simple tools, Li Wei can complete a discarded plant craft in less than two days on average. In order to better design the shapes of the "small animals", Li Wei stores a large number of pictures of plant art works on his mobile phone, and he reads and studies them when he has free time.

"When I go to the park with my family, I can't help but stop and look at the various garden works. I don't want to leave until I understand the structure." Li Wei laughed. His "addiction" to plant crafts also allowed him to shine in gardening competitions.

Since 2018, Li Wei’s works will appear in the flower arrangement art exhibition of the Guangxi Garden and Horticulture Expo, and he has frequently won awards. "Observe carefully in life, and anything can be turned into a beautiful work of art." Li Wei said. (over)
