Manhole covers designed with characters have been installed in Tokyo's Minato Ward, the setting for the manga ``Sailor Moon,'' which is popular both domestically and internationally.

The designs on the manhole covers in Minato Ward are the main characters of Sailor Moon, a masterpiece by manga artist Naoko Takeuchi that also became popular as an anime.

Since the work is set in Minato Ward, the ward decided to install lids with different designs in five locations within the ward in an effort to attract domestic and international fans and tourists.

The main character and his friends were painted in bright colors on the lids of the Keio Nakadori Shopping Street and Minato City Library, which were set up in advance, and fans took photos of them.

The ward plans to have everything installed by the end of this month, and hopes to use it to attract tourists by creating guide maps and manhole cards.
