Controlling risk factors can prevent or delay 40% of dementia

Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, accounting for approximately 60% to 70% of dementia cases. Currently, there are about 15 million dementia patients among the elderly in my country, 10 million of whom are Alzheimer's disease patients.

Xie Hengge, chairman of the Alzheimer's Disease Branch of the China Elderly Care Association, said that studies have found that more than half of the global burden of dementia is caused by potential and intervenable risk factors, including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, middle-age Early obesity, smoking, excessive drinking, lack of exercise, low education, depression, social isolation, etc. Strengthening education and intervening on modifiable risk factors can prevent or delay about 40% of dementia globally and in my country.

Kong Lingzhi, executive vice president and secretary-general of the China Health Education and Promotion Association, said that Alzheimer's disease and chronic diseases share many of the same risk factors; strategies for early prevention, early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment are consistent strategies for dealing with chronic diseases. It is consistent and consistent with the "prevention first" that has always been emphasized in my country's health and wellness work policy. Kong Lingzhi also emphasized the importance of raising awareness and called on all sectors of society to work together to increase public awareness of Alzheimer's disease and help prevent and control the disease.

Misplacement, changes in mood and behavior, difficulty understanding visual and spatial information, withdrawal from work or social activities, etc. Xie Hengge emphasized that if early signs are found, family members should accompany the elderly to seek medical treatment promptly and receive more comprehensive cognitive examinations, risk management, chronic disease prevention and control management, and professional consultation.

The "Joint Tips" also mentioned that early treatment is the best option for delaying the disease. Under the guidance of a doctor, stopping taking drugs that aggravate memory loss, and early, long-term, standardized drug and non-drug treatments for Alzheimer's disease can preserve the patient's cognitive ability and life functions to the maximum extent, reduce the occurrence of behavioral problems, and achieve The purpose of delaying disease progression and improving quality of life.
