It has been discovered that sewage from toilets and other facilities at a public facility in Kawasaki City has been flowing into a nearby river for over 35 years. The city has confirmed that the piping was incorrectly connected, has taken temporary measures, and plans to replace the piping in the future.

According to Kawasaki City, on the 7th of this month, a citizen contacted the city in Kuritani, Tama Ward, Kawasaki City, complaining that the water in the Gotanda River, which runs through the city, was cloudy white.

The cause of the cloudy river water is believed to be paint from a nearby city facility for children and the elderly, which painted the exterior walls white, and was originally supposed to flow into the sewer through sewage pipes.

However, when the city investigated, it was confirmed that the rainwater pipe was incorrectly connected to the sewage pipe connection within the facility.

As a result, sewage from the facility's toilets and other facilities has been flowing into the Gotanda River, and according to the city, it is estimated that this has been going on for over 35 years since plumbing work was completed around 1988.

However, the river's water quality has not exceeded standards so far, and no health hazards have been confirmed.

Kawasaki City has taken emergency measures to prevent sewage from flowing into the river, and plans to replace the pipes correctly in the future. ``We sincerely apologize to the residents. We will do our best to take appropriate measures to ensure their peace of mind.'' Masu.
