The fight of a lifetime... At 95, Line Renaud continues her commitment to the fight against AIDS. Saturday evening, the actress will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sidaction on France 2. I am going to tell these 30 years of Sidaction", she explains this Friday morning at the microphone of Thomas Isle in

“I received insulting letters”

Line Renaud joined Sidaction from its creation in February 1994. In France, she was the very first celebrity to provide support to researchers as well as patients. “The death of my friend Camille, who was a force of nature, pushed me to get involved,” confides Line Renaud. At the time, the star was misunderstood because the patients, mostly homosexuals, were stigmatized (editor's note: homosexuality was decriminalized in France in 1982). “I received so many insulting letters, it lasted a year,” she remembers on Europe 1.

“The war could resume at any moment”

Today, Line Renaud continues to sit on the board of directors of Sidaction and still meets researchers. She hammers it home this morning on Europe 1: “The war is not won”. “It can start again at any moment. All it takes is for people not to protect themselves, especially young people,” warns the actress, also very committed to the right to die with dignity.
