The Tokyo High Court in the second trial rejected the claim of innocence of former House of Representatives member Tsukasa Akimoto, who was charged with bribery and witness bribing in a corruption case involving IR (integrated resort facility) business. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Tsukasa Akimoto (52), a former member of the House of Representatives who was a vice minister at the Cabinet Office in charge of IR, is accused of bribery for accepting bribes worth approximately 7.5 million yen from Chinese companies and other sources, and is facing a lawsuit against the bribers. He was charged with bribing a witness for asking him to testify and then offering him cash.

The Tokyo District Court, which held the first trial, rejected the former lawmaker's claim of innocence and sentenced him to four years in prison, and the former lawmaker has appealed.

In the second trial ruling on the 22nd, Tokyo High Court Chief Judge Akira Ando said, ``The testimony of multiple bribers that cash was given to them is objectively supported by notes taken at the time, and is therefore reliable.'' On the other hand, he called the testimony of a former lawmaker who denied receiving or receiving cash "unreliable."

Furthermore, the court ruled that the 3 million yen allegedly given to him at the Diet House and the travel expenses for the invitation to Macau constituted bribes, and following the first trial, he was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay approximately 7.5 million yen in additional fines.

The former lawmaker appealed the ruling.

Following the first trial, the Tokyo High Court sentenced Akihiro Toyoshima (45), a former policy secretary who was accused of bribery along with a former lawmaker but had maintained his innocence, to two years in prison and a four-year suspended sentence. I told you.
